It has been a very busy last few months for DoTraining. September is always hugely demanding as we have to screen, test and assess all new incoming athletes at the Barking Abbey Sports Academy. With record numbers of athletes on the Basketball and Netball programme it has been a busy yet enjoyable month, and we look forward to a very successful season.
As DoTraining reputation continues to grow in and around the london area for providing strength and conditioning support, we were approached by the University of East London and their High Performance programme. As a result we are proud to announce that this year we will be contracted for Strength and Conditioning at University of East London (UEL). We are very excited to work with a wide variety of athletes from a variety of sports. UEL offer a great opportunity for talented athletes to further their education, while they continue to participate at a high level within their chosen sport.
Strength and Conditioning at University of East London and their scholarship program are headed up by “Director of Sport” David Cosford, and “High Performance Sports Officer” – Matt Tansley. The program is now entering its 2nd year. The UEL Sports Scholarship Programme is one of the most attractive in the UK, and enables elite athletes to balance study with their sporting ambitions. Their current sports scholars include Olympians, Paralympians and Senior Internationals who represent UEL at national and international University competitions. In 2012 UEL were able to offer just 20 talented athletes bursaries and scholarships to help assist them in the cost of attending UK universities. Now a year later, after a hugely successful year in team and individual performances at BUCS, UEL offer other 50 scholarships for athletes in Basketball, Volleyball, Athletics, Judo, Boxing, Tennis, Rowing, Sailing and more.
DoTraining is very proud to have been asked to provide Strength and Conditioning support to these scholars for the 2013-14 academic year. We are very excited at what the year will bring, both in individual and team performances at the BUCS championships and also national and international recognition.
