Netball Strength and conditioning is now becoming a big part of the Barking Abbey Academy set up. DoTraining have been consulting with Barking Abbey Netball Academy for the last 2 season, and during this time the program has moved forward a great deal. Currently Barking are the National College Champions and are continuing their recent success this season.
Netball is a game with short sprints, quick turns, acceleration and deceleration over 5-10 meters. Netball players use explosive jumps and changes of direction while being physically strong to gain positioning within their areas. With this in mind its essential that Netball players follow a well rounded and specific netball strength and conditioning program to improve performance as well as reduce the occurrence of injury. Ankle and knee injury’s are all to common in netball and a netball strength and conditioning program should focus on improving joint mechanics making movements more efficient while improving lower body strength. DoTraining work with the netball academy to provide all the above, while improving the girls work capacity, flexibility and mobility.
The Barking Abbey Netball program have made great progress over the last few months and this progress in the weight room is really translating into performances on the court.
