Two weeks ago I arrived back from an amazing experience. In October of last year i was asked to climb Mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania Africa, by the charity SENSE.
Sense is a great cause that helps support people that have a hugely debilitating disability of being both deaf and blind. SENSE makes these unfortunate people lives more manageable and enjoyable and offers alot of support and help the the families of these individuals. Needless to say it was a great cause to work for.
The summit of Kilimanjaro is 5895 meters above sea level and is the highest point on the African continent. Climbing to the summit took a total of 4 days (1.5 days to return to the town of Moshe at sea level). I was lucky enough to not suffer from any altitude related sickness and for the most part every step up the mountain was a truly enjoyable and humbling experience.
A huge thank you to all that supported SENSE and myself and enabled my to raise a massive £4000 on behalf of SENSE.
